Sanjay Leela Bhansali talks about Heeramandi, The Biggest set he has ever made

The renowned filmmaker and director Sanjay Leela Bhansali made his OTT debut with the upcoming highly anticipated series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazar Which is streaming on the OTT platform Netflix. The excitement is in the air with the streaming of this highly anticipated series. The series goes to premiere on Netflix on 1 May 2024. The series delves into the enchanting world of the courtesans of Heera Mandi during pre-independence India. The series is all about the time when Courtseasn ruled as queen in their area. The ace director and filmmaker expresses his excitement about his upcoming series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazar. 

Heeramandi: The biggest set ever 

In a recent interview, The filmmaker stated some interesting facts about Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazar. The creation of the Heeramandi set is 8 years journey for Bhansali. The filmmaker stated that when there are characters I love a lot, I create a special space for them. Bhansali said "My art directors  are petrified when I call them," said Bhansali, adding, "I chew their brains until I get things right." He said that this is the biggest set i have to made in my life. Because it is really that walls have been pushed way beyond what I thought. I will never be able to push as a child which I thought I was. So I feel I have started enjoying and understanding more and more as my filmmaking has progressed. 

Heeramandi set took 7 months for the construction 

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Heeramandi set is located in Mumbai's film city. Reports are that the set took seven months the construct. The project involved 60,000 wooden planks and metal frames and involved the labor of 700 craftsmen. The set features a royal palace, a dancing hall, roads, a mosque, a courtyard, and shops among other elements.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's directorial Heeramandi is all about the story of Courtseasn in the red light area of district Heeramandi in Lahore. The series boasts a star stubbed cast featuring, Sonakshi Sinha, Manisha Koirala, Aditi Rao Hydrai, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh, and Sharmin Segal in pivotal roles. It also features Adhyayan Suman, Shekhar Suman, Fardeen Khan, Taha Shah Baddusha, and Farida Jalal.
