Adapted A Male Character In Kuttey Says Tabu

Veteran actor Tabu, who will be seen donning a badass avatar in forthcoming thriller Kuttey, says the character she played was written for a male actor but later changed for her.

Tabu was interacting with media on the sidelines of Kuttey trailer launch in Mumbai. The black comedy thriller is helmed by Vishal Bhardwaj's son, Aasmaan Bhardwaj, in his directorial debut. The film stars Arjun Kapoor, Naseeruddin Shah, Radhika Madan, Konkona Sen Sharma, Kumud Mishra and Shardul Bhardwaj.

Tabu who has been a longtime collaborator with Vishal Bhardwaj, shed some light on working with his son and the character she plays.

Talking about the comparison between Vishal and Aasmaan, she said, “This one is totally different than Vishal Bhardwaj’s films, you really cannot compare the two, Aasmaan is a totally different kind of filmmaker, of course his thoughts and aesthetics are like Vishal, but his cinema is different”

“As you all have seen the trailer, for me to play such a character was quite new, different, and challenging. Actually, this character was written for a male actor, but later it was changed for me. So, playing this character was fun and challenging. Moreover, for me it was home, I remember when Aasamaan was born, Gulzar Saab gave him his name, and when we were shooting Maqbool, he used to run around the sets carrying a wooden camera” added Tabu.

The film is produced by Vishal Bhardwaj Films, T-Series Films and Luv Films. The film also stars Anurag Kashyap and Ashish Vidyarthi. It is slated for 13th January 2023 release.
