Following the verdict, Jiah’s mother Rabia Khan spoke with Newshelpline and said, “My daughter is killed, and now abetment is over, so what is left, 302 right?”

Adding about filing an application in Bombay high court, Rabia said, “Filed an application before the Bombay High Court over the murder case, “Honorable court asked me, and I will do it. I know my child’s life has been taken, agency has tried their level best not to produce any evidence before the court, neither the abetment evidence for the suicide, so there is no evidence why they would even put a charge?”

When asked if she is disappointed with verdict, Rabia said, “I am not disappointed, I am disappointed in both the agencies, CBI and NC, both the agencies treated my daughters murder such shabbily, both the agencies tried blind-folding everyone and everything, I looked for evidence, I produced it in front of them, they had nothing, even the court said, this woman has done everything, I did everything, but they couldn’t digest it”

“I have said it many times, CBI investigation is a sham, it is not proper, I even thought to myself, okay they don’t want to their work, let me get the evidence, I got the forensic report, I got the evidence, I even got them 3-4 reports from experts, to be honest, all the evidence were not there, the phone was not the same, the dupatta was not the same, nothing was same, so what the hell they were doing? I am certain that Juhu police hasn’t given anything to CBI, but it was CBI’s duty to go to root and get everything from Juhu police, but they didn’t do their duty at all” added Rabia.

Sooraj was arrested in Jiah Khan’s case but was later released on bail. Following his bail, Jiah’s mother moved to the Bombay High Court and sought a transfer of the probe to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The central investigating agency then filed a charge-sheet in December 2015 in which they charged Sooraj with abetment of suicide under Section 306 of the Indian Penal Code.
