The trailer of the film Bheed was release recently, but drawing parallel between lockdown with partition, and use of PM Modi’s announcement speech about the lockdown, which led to backlash from audience, following that Bhushan Kumar dropped out from producing the film.

During the media interaction, we asked Rajkummar Rao about the controversies surrounding the film and he said, “I am not sure about PM Modi’s voice-over issue, I was busy with promotion, but I am sure, creating the trailer is the call of filmmaker, Anubhav Sinha, and it would be a lot better, if you could ask him about the creative call.”

Recently, National Award winner filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar released India Lockdown, which explore the same story line as Bheed.

When asked about India Lockdown and Bheed being the same, Rajkummar Rao said, “To be honest, I haven’t seen Madhur Bhandarkar’s Lockdown, but I am sure it is a different film, a whole different film.”

Written and directed and produced by Anubhav Sinha, the story of this film was given by Saumya Tiwari, Sonali Jain and Sinha. The film is slated for theatrical release on 24 March 2023.
