National Award-winning filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar, attended the FICCI Frames Fast Track 2022 convention, says that reach of content is essential, medium doesn’t matter as lines are getting blurred fast between OTT and theatrical release.
Madhur Bhandarkar was talking to NewsHelpline during an interactive session at FICCI Frames Fast Track 2022 convention.
Known for mega theatrical releases, Madhur Bhandarkar’s latest offering Babli Bouncer released on digital platform and found instant success. So we asked the filmmaker if change of medium really matters or not, and he said, “There is nothing like that, see when we were ideating the movie, we didn’t know what a pandemic is, and the entire will be in chaos within no time, we never thought about it. Once the pandemic got over and we were picking up the threads, and someone came along asking us to make the film as we wanted but only for OTT release, as a family entertainer with the same budget, I don’t think I hesitated. Now the film is out and doing good, it is a validation”
“In my experience, OTT or theater doesn’t make much difference, people watch good content everywhere or anywhere. Today that line is getting blurred very fast, today the reach of content is essential” added Madhur.
This year FICCI Frames has returned in its physical form in Mumbai following the COVID pandemic. As in previous years, the world's media and entertainment industry will be in full attendance at this event, with nearly 2000 delegates encompassing the entire sector.
After Babli Bouncer, filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar’s next venture is India Lockdown, a pandemic drama and rumored Inspector Ghalib with Shah Rukh Khan.
