Asghar Stanikzai first played for Afghanistan at under-17s level in 2004 and his maiden senior appearance followed in the same year when he lined up against Oman in the Asian Cricket Council Trophy.

Five years later, the batsman was part of Afghanistan’s first one-day international team which met Scotland in 2009.

Stanikzai has scored four fifties in 35 ODIs since, including a match-winning 90* against Bangladesh in March 2014 which helped Afghanistan to its first win over a Test-playing nation.

A part-time medium-fast bowler, Stanikzai has taken two wickets in ODIs.
