Eoin Morgan is one of only two players in history to score one-day international hundreds for two different countries.

Born in Dublin, the batsman represented Ireland at under-15, under-17 and under-19 level before making his senior ODI debut in August 2006 at the European Championships against Scotland.

His 99 on debut was a sign of great things to come and his maiden ODI hundred followed around six months later against Canada.

Morgan was a member of Ireland’s 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup squad before he pursued the opportunity of playing Test cricket for England. In June 2007 he was named twelfth man for England’s Test against West Indies and one year later he had the chance to play for England Lions against South Africa.

The left-hander’s first ODI cap for England came in 2009 against West Indies and his Test call-up followed one year later against Bangladesh. Morgan smacked 130 in his third Test appearance, while his other Test hundred came against India in 2011.

Morgan has not played a Test for England since early 2012 but has remained a regular member of their ODI team.

The 2015 World Cup was his third appearance at the tournament and his second for England.

In December 2014, Morgan was named captain of the ODI team, replacing Alastair Cook.
