Jasprit Bumrah emerged in Australia in 2016 as a limited overs talent and returned two years later as one of India’s front-line Test bowlers.
After a strong foundation with the Mumbai Indians, an international career began as a whirlwind when Bumrah made both his ODI and T20I debuts within the space of four days. It took just months thereafter for him to excel for the Indian team. In August 2016, Bumrah surpassed Dirk Nannes for the most T20I wickets in a calendar year.
Longer formats beckoned for the bowler with an unconventional style. Bumrah claimed the scalp of AB de Villiers for his first Test wicket in January 2018 and took another 47 more wickets in the year to come.
By taking career-best figures of 6-33 in the Boxing Day Test, he became the first bowler from an Asian nation to take five-wicket hauls in Australia, England and South Africa in the same year.
