In a career dominated by shoulder injuries, left-arm spinner Jon Holland has unfortunately been unable to play enough consistent cricket to reach his enormous potential.

Having made his debut for Victoria in 2008, Holland did enough to earn Australia A selection in 2009 and then a call-up to the 15-man squad for Australia’s seven-ODI tour to India, although he didn’t play a game in that series.

After another round of shoulder surgery, Holland showed glimpses of his ability in 2011-12 when he took 24 wickets in eight Sheffield Shield matches and a haul of 6-29 in a Ryobi Cup match against South Australia.

But just as he was being discussed for higher honours, Holland suffered another injury setback and missed the entire 2012-13 season, before returning with moderate success the following summer.

Holland eventually made his Test debut in 2016, playing against Sri Lanka in Galle.
