Having burst onto the scene as a 17-year-old for NSW in the 2010/11 Big Bash tournament, Pat Cummins was quickly identified as a future star and became the youngest player ever to earn a central contract with Cricket Australia.

Despite having only a handful of First Class games to his name, he was then thrown into the deep end of Test cricket against the might of South Africa in Johannesburg in 2011.

The speedster showed no signs of nerves, however, taking 6-79 in the second innings and hitting the winning runs to earn man-of-the-match honours in Australia’s narrow win.

Unfortunately, Cummins’ career has been continually hampered by injury with the rigours of fast bowling taking their toll on his young body.

However 2014/15 was one of his best summers. He returned to the NSW side for the Matador BBQs One Day Cup and helped Australia to win the 2015 ICC World Cup.

He had been selected in the Australian team for a two Test tour of Bangladesh in September 2015 but was ruled out a week before the side was scheduled to leave with another stress fracture in his back.

As of February 2019, Cummins is the top Test bowler in the world, according to the ICC Player Rankings.
