A gifted bowler who also played rugby during his school days, Tim Southee broke into the Black Caps one-day international and Test teams in 2008.
The fast bowler marked his Test debut with 5-55 and then followed it up with 77 off 40 balls against England in a brilliant debut.
His ODI debut followed several months later, also against England, and Southee has since taken more than 100 wickets in the 50-over game.
A solid attacking bowler thanks to his right-arm swing, Southee took 18 wickets at the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2011 and partnered brilliantly with Trent Boult to terrorise opening batsmen in the 2015 edition before being named in the Test squad to tour England.
