PATNA: Rashtriya Janata Dal party wins the Jokihat assembly seat with 41,000 votes in a by-elections on Thursday in Bihar after beating JD(U) party.

RJD candidate Shahnawaz Alam left behind Murshid Alam of JD(U) by huge margin of 41,000 votes, Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Baiju Nath Kumar affirmed.
In 2015 state polls, Jokihat seat was conquered by JDU party in Araria district of Bihar.
In March 2018, By-polls to the assembly seat was entailed by the renunciation of sitting MLA Sarfaraz Alam. His big brother triumph the by-elections for Araria Lok Sabha seat on an RJD ticket whereas his father Taslimuddin had symbolized Jokihat seat for around five times.

The Jokihat by-elections beat has come as a shock to CM Nitish Kumar who discarded RJD and Congress in 2016 to unite with Bhartiya Janata Pary to make alliance government in Bihar.
Janata Dal United had recorded three successive triumphs at Jokihat.
