Eid special sweet dish sewai ( vermicelli)

It is a dish usually served at breakfast.High in calories, Sevaiyan are popular in South East and MIddle East Asia. Frequently cooked during the holy month of Ramadan, this dish requires a little skill.

Cooking time : 15 mins


200 gms vermicelli(crushed)

200 gms sugar

100 gms ghee

2-3 pods cardamoms

3/4 cup water

1/2 cup dry fruits (cashew nuts,raisins,almonds )


  • Step-1

Keep a pot( heavy bottom) on medium flame. Add ghee to it. Let it heat up. Add cardomoms to it.

  • Step 2

Add crushed vermicelli to the ghee. Keep stirring till all the vermicelli is golden brown uniformly. Take care not to burn it.

  • Step 3

Add dry fruits and stir. Now add water and sugar. Mix it well.

  • Step 4

Switch off the burner and cover the pot with a heavy lid and keep it like that for five mins

Your sevai is ready to serve

Best served when hot and can be garnished with dry fruits.
