Airtel has announced a new prepaid plan of Rs 599 in partnership with Bharti AXA Life Insurance. The prepaid plan will also give life insurance of Rs 4 lakh along with free day, unlimited calls. The prepaid plan of Rs 599 will include 2GB of data per day, unlimited local and STD calls and 100 SMS. The duration for a prepaid plan is 84 days.
According to the press statement of Airtel, the recharge comes with a validity of 84 days and with every recharge the insurance cover will automatically continue for three months. After the first recharge for Rs 599, the customer has to enroll for insurance. This can be done through SMS, Airtel Thanks App or authorized Airtel retail store.
Airtel says that life insurance cover will be available to all customers between the age of 18-54. For Airtel prepaid customers, life insurance cover will not require any additional paperwork or a medical examination. Effectively the cost of insurance is Rs 200 per month, given that the plan is valid for about three months.

Once the user is registered for insurance after recharge, the certificate of insurance will be distributed digitally immediately. Airtel said in a press statement that a physical copy of the insurance will be delivered to the customer's doorstep.
Airtel has limited the product to customers in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry. The company said the plan's availability would be gradually extended to Pan-India over the next few months, although it did not provide a specific timeline.
