In comparison to Young Couples, Love, Understanding is found more in Age-Old Couples
Internet Desk| Often we hear in the relationship that with aging, the love factor does not remain as impactful as it used to be in the young age days. Now a new research has revealed something that you would not have thought about it ever before.
In this study, it has been found that in the life of older couples, fights happens but with some humor in it and sweetness dissolves in comparison to the young age of couple.
Researchers at the University of California, USA, rated videos of 87 middle-aged and elderly couples, who were married between 15 and 35 years.
Researchers tracked emotional conversations between the two for 13 years of couples; they found that as the age progressed, the sense of humor in each other and the sense of humility towards each other grew in couples.
According to this study published in Emotion Magazine, positive behavior like humor and love in older couples was seen more while negative behavior such as criticism of each other declined. This study is in sharp contrast to the assumption that emotions decrease with increasing age. Or the human spirit becomes zero.
Robert Levenson, professor of psychology at UC Berkeley, says, "Our search puts light on the contradictions of growing age. Despite losing many friends and family, the older couple is relatively happy and they have less symptoms of depression and anxiety. Marriage has proved to be good for their mental health '.
