IND vs AUS: 12 players selected for India's first test
Sports| India has selected 12 players for the first Test of the four-test series against Australia. The series starts with the Adelaide Test, which will be played from December 6.
BCCI has named 12 Indian team members on their Twitter handle:
Virat Kohli (captain), Ajinkya Rahane (vice-captain), KL Rahul, Murali Vijay, Cheteshwar Pujara, Rohit Sharma, Hanuma Vihari, Rishabh Pant (wicketkeeper), R. Ashwin, MO Shami, Ishant Sharma, Jaspreet Bumrah
The responsibility to handle fast attacks on India is on Shami, Ishant Sharma and Jaspreet Bumrah Bhuvaneshwar Kumar has not been given any place. Umesh Yadav will also sit outside. On the other hand, spin department will be handled by R. Ashwin. His partner Ravindra Jadeja has not been selected. Chinnaman Kuldeep Yadav is not currently in the 12 players. Hanuma Vihari can get the captain's job from his off spin. In the last-11, Rohit Sharma and Hanuma Vihari can be given a chance.
On the other hand, Australia has announced the names of 11 players for the first Test. Marcus Harris will make his Test debut in Adelaide, while Mitchell Marsh is not selected.
Australia's 11 players: Marcus Harris, Aaron Finch, Usman Khawaja, Shaun Marsh, Peter Handscomb, Travis Head, Tim Paine (captain), Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, Josh Hedgelwood.
