Directed by Prabhu Deva,  Dabangg 3 showcases Chulbul Pandey’s origin as a police officer, after his encounter with an old rival named Bali Singh refreshes his memory and how he deals with this situation to protect his loved ones. Elaborating about her experience on her first film with one of the biggest film franchise, Debutante Saiee Manjrekar on occasion of the World Television Premieres of Dabangg 3 says:

How was your experience sharing the screen space with Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha in your debut film?

It was like a dream come true, to be honest. With a lot of thrill and excitement came tremendous responsibility to be in the same frame as Salman sir and Sonakshi. During my screen test, I knew that the first take is going to decide my fate to star along with my childhood favorite artist. Even while shooting, it all felt surreal and each day I was on my toes to do justice to the character and the faith Prabhudeva sir and Salman sir had put on me. I got to learn so much from each one of themand I am glad to have landed this opportunity for making my debut with Dabangg 3. Nonetheless, it was one of the greatest experiences of my life.

How did you prepare for your role?

My character Khushi is a very sweet and innocent character which was quite relatable to me and that really helped me get into the skin of the character. Since, I am like her, I just put myself into her shoes and everything just came in naturally with obviously a little help from Prabhu sir, Salman Sir and Sonakshi. As I got to understand her character better, I could easily gauge her next moves and I knew how she would react under certain circumstances which made things quite simple and easier for me.I could embrace my character and explore more layers that were there to her.To crack the UP lingo right I used to refer to movies like Nadiya Ke Paar or sometime even draw reference from my visit to faraway villages when I used to accompany my dad for shoots. Additionally, Prabhudeva sir helped through the entire process and the entire team made me feel at home on the sets.

Did you face any trouble while working in the film?

None actually. I used to accompany my father to his sets for movie shoots and that sort of got me attuned to the life at sets. Since, I was starring opposite Salman Sir, I was a little nervous so I used to prepare and cover my ground before going for the take. But, Salman Sir made me feel so comfortable on sets and always pushed me to do my best with ease which really helped. Because of such great supportand preparation, our takes went smoothly. Now, when I look back to those days of shooting, I feel those were one of the best days I have lived. And, I am glad that it had to be with Dabangg 3.

Life after Dabangg 3

I was overwhelmed to see the audience’s response to the film. We all love a good ‘ol origin story and Chulbul Pandey has been one India’s most loved and adored characters of all times. It was already a dream come true to be an integral part of that journey but the response we got was something else! The love that I got for Khushi is the push I needed to evolve as a person and as an actor. I feel more responsible and driven because of that. So, life post Dabangg has been just great!
