The Narendra Modi government on Monday gave a historic decision by giving reservations to poor upper castes. Prior to the Lok Sabha elections, the Government has given 10 per cent reservation to the poor people on the basis of financial services and government jobs and education. The opposition has described this decision of the government as just one election 'Jumla', while the Bharatiya Janata Party and the government have described it as a historic step. Modi Government will amend the Constitution to implement this decision. On Tuesday, a revised bill will be introduced in the Lok Sabha. The Central Government will make changes in Article 15 and Article 16 of the Constitution. Changing both the Articles will give way to clear reservations on economic basis.
It is not at all that the only Hindu will get the benefit of this decision. Apart from Hindus, people of Muslim and Christians religion will get the benefit of this decision. For example, if Muslims comes in a general category and if they are financially weak, then they will get 10% reservation.
The Modi government has implemented some conditions along with this decision. Under this decision, whose income is less than 8 lakh rupees annually, they will get the benefit of this decision, besides those who have land less than 5 hectare; they will also get 10% reservation benefits.
The upper castes who have a house of less than 1000 square feet, who have less than 109 yards of Nigam land, will have land less than 209 yards residential plot, and those who do not come under any reservation will get benefit of this.
