Supreme Court issues concern over delays in appointing judges, send a recommendation to settle this soon
Internet Desk| The Supreme Court has now become quite vocal about its right to appoint judges. In the meeting of the collegiums held on Monday for recommending appointments of High Court Judges, it was also written that this should be dealt with expeditiously.
Recommendations for appointment of these judges are from 2016 to 2018. For the appointment of High Court judges, the three top Supreme Court judges - Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Justice Madan B Lokur and Justice Arjan Sikri Collegium issued their urgent recommendations in April and August.
The government has again recommended the name of lawyer, Justice Amit Negi for the Gujarat High Court, Justice Vishnukumar Prabhudas Patel and Allahabad High Court. On the other hand, the Collegium has unanimously told the government that in the previous recommendations, the appointments of the other names were made, but no fact was found despite considering the names which had been objected, hence these names should be given a green signal.
In the last months, the government had cleared the files of appointment of judges of Supreme Court in 24 hours after implementing the recommendations of the Collegiate. Four judges took oath in three days.
