Superstar Ajay Devgn’s latest outing, a historic period drama based on real life Maratha warrior, Tanhaji, opened with a bang and amazing reviews from all quarters. The actor says that the film is working on a good scale.
Talking about opening to good response and positive reviews, on the sidelines of special screening, Ajay Devgn said, “I want everyone to watch the film, Tanhaji. This kind of film has never been made before with such a scale and technology. Apart from that, the story, emotion, drama and action, according to me and the media who has seen the film, are really amazing and working on a good scale. So I am keeping my fingers crossed.”
Along with big budgeted multi-starrer Tanhaji, a small but content driven drama based on real-life incident, Chhapaak also opened up, starring Deepika Padukone and Vikrant Massey.
Deepika’s film, however, has been facing the wrath of a certain section of people after she visited Jawaharlal Nehru University to express solidarity with the students, who were attacked by a mob on January 5. In fact, a politician called for a ban on the movie.
Talking about raging war between two movies and actors, Ajay added, “Really, a war is going on, who is doing it? There is no such war is happening, people keep on putting their opinions on social media, but we don’t pay much attention to that, both the films are based on good subject, and I really wish that both the film works.”
Directed by Om Raut, the film is set in the 17th century and based on the life of Tanaji Malusare, who was the military leader of Shivaji, founder of the Maratha Empire. The film also stars Saif Ali Khan, Kajol, Sharad Kelkar and more.
The film was theatrically released in India on 10 January 2020.
