At that time, the glory of Bhangarh was at the peak. The market made by the inside of the fort, the beautiful temples, the palaces of the grand palaces and the tawaifs, used to offer more livelihood to its puberty. At that time temples of Gopinath, Someshwar, Mangaladevi, and Krishnakeshwara were situated here.

It is said that the princess of Bhangarh, Ratnawati was very beautiful. In this state, a Tantrik named Singhia was fascinated by the princess. He wanted to marry Ratnavati, but it was not possible. In such a situation, he decided to use black magic to enchant the oil intended to be used by her, such that the mere touch of the oil would hypnotize the princess. But tantrik's plan got failed as princess earned of his intentions so she broke the bottle and threw the oil away. The oil touched a stone, and the stone, rolling towards the wicked tantrik, crushed him. While dying he cursed the residents of the fort to die and the village dwellers to remain roofless forever. The very next year there was a battle between Bhangarh and Ajabgarh and Ratnavati died.

But there are many other stories tell about the ruin of Bhangarh, those are very mysterious and interesting. It is also being said that after the death of Tantric, all the people of Bhangarh including the princess were killed and they disappeared in one night. The whole city became desolate one night. It is believed that due to the death of famine, the souls of the inhabitants of this country still stray here.

Locals living near the fort says in the night they hear horrible voices. They also say that whoever goes inside this fort during the night does not return back, but what is the truth and myths are behind this ghostly fear of Bhangarh? There is no concrete proof that can solve this unsolved mystery. Many people claim to have heard voices of women crying, sounds of bangles in the rooms, and eerie smells after dusk.

Strange lights, ghostly shadows, and unusual sounds of music and dance have also been reported. The brave hearts who dared to stay back after dusk have failed to appear alive the next morning.
