Team India West Indies Tour

The Indian cricket team's squad for the upcoming tour of West Indies in 2023 has been announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The tour will include two Test matches, three ODIs, and five T20 matches. While some players are still on their way, the team has already arrived in West Indies. Shubman Gill and Mohammed Siraj have arrived in the West Indies and have shared the stories on Instagram while Ishan Kishan shared the pictures. Today, July 2nd, they will commence their practice sessions for the Test series. Captain Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal have also reached West Indies and are prepared to begin training with the team.

Captain Rohit Sharma has finally joined the West Indies tour after a slight delay caused by his family vacation abroad. The Indian team is now fully focused on their practice sessions, where they will be putting in extensive effort in the nets. Prior to the Test series, the team will also engage in a practice match. The much-anticipated first Test match between India and West Indies is scheduled for 12th July. It is worth noting that this series marks the beginning of the new cycle of the World Test Championship for 2023-2024, as India had suffered defeat against Australia in the previous WTC final in 2023.

The BCCI has given young players like Ruturaj Gaikwad and Yashasvi Jaiswal the opportunity to play against West Indies. Additionally, they have decided to leave out Cheteshwar Pujara from the team. It is unclear if Pujara will have the chance to make a comeback. Both Gaikwad and Jaiswal possess great skills and are capable of handling the responsibility. Moreover, Captain Rohit Sharma is seriously contemplating giving these young players a shot.

India’s Test squad: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Virat Kohli, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ajinkya Rahane (vice-captain), KS Bharat (wicket-keeper), Ishan Kishan (wicket-keeper), Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Axar Patel, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Jaydev Unadkat, Navdeep Saini.
