Bhul Chuk Maaf OTT Release: Stuck In Time, Racing For Love

Among the new OTT releases creating buzz, Bhool Chuk Maaf is one that impresses with its endearing mix of sci-fi, comedy, and emotional romance. Karan Sharma helms this 2025 release, which stars Rajkummar Rao as Ranjan, a well-intentioned but clumsy government servant who gets mysteriously trapped in a time loop on the day of his Haldi ceremony.

As the sacred city of Varanasi stirs to the same chaos each morning, Ranjan retraces mishaps, misapprehensions, and flashes of surprise epiphany—all in a bid to reach his bride-to-be, Titli, endearingly portrayed by Wamiqa Gabbi. With each do-over of the day, the film astutely explores the genre of fate, love, and second opportunities, providing a delectably off-center twist on the traditional wedding tale.

Full of eccentric humor, feeling, and first-rate performances from a top-of-the-line cast, Bhool Chuk Maaf is time-travel romantic comedy that goes the bold step of rewriting itself over and over again until it feels perfect to it.

Haldi on Repeat: A Love Story Caught in a Time Loop

In Bhool Chuk Maaf, the chaos begins on what should be a joyous milestone—Ranjan's Haldi ceremony. Instead of moving on to wedded bliss, the sweet groom wakes up every morning trapped in an inexplicable time loop, reliving the same pre-wedding day ad infinitum. As he bumbles from back-to-back faux pas, cringe-worthy encounters, and heart-to-heart epiphanies, Ranjan discovers this loop is not just a cosmic glitch—it's an awakening.

Aguen of his strange fate, Titli, his spirited fiancee, sets out to organize the wedding, and Ranjan wrestles with attempting to correct the past, discover truths, and even try to alter the future. He becomes more robust—in desperation, initially, but eventually in love and compassion as well—with every retracing.

Will Ranjan break the cycle and reach the mandap, or will fate forever rewind his romance forever?

This time-traveling spin, set against the vibrant backdrop of Varanasi, turns a run-of-the-mill shaadi drama into an unexpectedly poignant journey of love, regret, and redemption.

From Mandap to Metadata: 'Bhool Chuk Maaf' Faces OTT Release Hurdles

Bhool Chuk Maaf, much-awaited romantic sci-fi comedy film featuring Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi in the lead, was originally scheduled for release in theatres on May 9, 2025. But with heightened national security because of Operation Sindoor, producers Maddock Films ruled out the theatrical release to immediately opt for a direct-to-OTT release on Amazon Prime Video, May 16, 2025.

This unexpected turn led to a legal battle with India's most prominent multiplex chain PVR Inox, which had committed to a contract with the makers for an 8-week exclusive theatrical window. PVR Inox had submitted a ₹60 crore claim on account of the breach of contract. The Bombay High Court came into action and issued an interim injunction suspending the film's OTT release until the contracted theatrical window or when the movie hits the big screen.

Subsequently, the OTT release of Bhool Chuk Maaf on Amazon Prime Video has also been delayed indefinitely until further court proceedings. Its next hearing has been fixed on June 16, 2025.
