Housefull 5 Review: Chaos, Comedy & a Cruise Ship Murder

"Housefull 5" (2025) is the big comeback of Bollywood's blockbuster comedy franchise—but with a twist. Written and directed by Tarun Mansukhani and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, the fifth movie goes all-out into a sidesplitting whodunit aboard a posh 20-storey luxury cruise ship on the birthday anniversary of a billionaire's 100th birthday bash.

What starts as a party soon turns out to be a riot when the host, Ranjeet Dobriyal, dies under mysterious circumstances. Enter three wacky blokes—Julius (Akshay Kumar), Jalabuddin (Riteish Deshmukh), and Jalbhushan (Abhishek Bachchan)—all of whom insist that they are the real Jolly.

Full of mad twists, rib-tickling guffaws, and a stereotypically Bollywood twist on the whodunit format, Housefull 5 takes viewers by surprise with not one but two different endings, acted out as Housefull 5A and 5B.

With a massive star-studded cast, Technicolor musical numbers, and zany gags, and a script that's always keeping you on your toes, the movie renews the franchise by mixing vintage old-fashioned slapstick with action. It's not only a comedy—it's an event movie designed to entertain, tantalize, and keep you coming back for more.

Murder, Mayhem & Multiple Jollys: A Cruise Ship Whodunit

The lavish 100th birthday bash of businessman tycoon Ranjeet Dobriyal on a 20-storeyed luxury cruise ship takes a sinister turn when he is discovered murdered in cold blood amidst festivities. The unexpected twist? Three quite disparate men—Julius (Akshay Kumar), Jalabuddin (Riteish Deshmukh), and Jalbhushan (Abhishek Bachchan)—come forward, each claiming to be Dobriyal's long-lost son, Jolly, and successor to his wealth.

As the cruise floats over brilliant seas, celebrations on board get out of control. Single after single, bizarre incidents and more murders result, making the vessel a ship of floating horrors. Amidst slapstick confusion and hidden agendas, the three Jollys—and a group of zany passengers—must climb romance, deception, and assertions of inheritance.

As the mystery thickens every minute, Housefull 5 introduces a new twist in the franchise by depicting two different endings—Housefull 5A and 5B—leading to a different reality behind the chaos. Is there only one real Jolly, or is everybody bluffing?

In typical Housefull style, look for surrealism, slapstick, disguises, confusion, and plenty of belly laughs—now with a murder mystery twist to keep you guessing until the final minute.

Housefull 5: All Aboard the Laughter Cruise!

For because the moment this luxury cruise gets going, Housefull 5 promises one weirdo ride of madness, surprise, and relentless laughter. Franchise brand chaos is turbo-charged as three men ridiculously battle to be pronounced heir to the billionaire — protesting each other vociferously to be the real "Jolly." Buckle up for confusion, zany antics, and slapstick comedy aplenty!

Triple Trouble: The Three Jollys

Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, and Abhishek Bachchan all try his A-game as comedians, portraying three fairly different—and super-funny—iterations of the same guy. Chemistry drives the film, with repartee and slapstick simmering at stratospheric levels. Supporting players such as Jacqueline Fernandez and Sanjay Dutt throw in a splash of added flair, leaving the cast to sparkle.

Mystery Meets Madness: A Bollywood Whodunit

What's new in Housefull 5 is the intelligent murder mystery in the comedy. Unexpected death of the tycoon on board sets a whodunit on wheels which is as funny as intriguing. And while you're trying to figure out the puzzle, the movie keeps you guessing with two alternate endings—5A and 5B—doubled fun and suspense for the masses!

Music to the Shenanigans

The background music of the film, with artists like Yo Yo Honey Singh, goes well with the on-screen hi-jinks. The dance steps and numbers pump the energy and do not let the party die down even once in any given time, thus keeping the party mood well within touch.

Housefull 5 excels at delivering sheer entertainment—fast-paced comedy, outrageous scenarios, and a stellar cast. However, fans looking for a tightly woven plot might find the story a bit thin, as the film leans heavily on slapstick and predictable jokes. Still, if you’re in it for laughs and lighthearted fun, this movie hits the mark.

Final Verdict: All Fun, All the Time

Basically, Housefull 5 is wallowing in the slapstick humor and mass-appeal devastation that Bollywood loves. It will not save the world, no, but it does not aspire to. What it does provide is the opportunity to sit back, tune out your cares, and get on the zany rollercoaster of guffaws, thrills, and offbeat memories.

So, relax, untie your waist, and brace yourself for a laughter riot ride which you will be on for the rest of your life!
